Domenique has a full caseload and is unable to accept new patients, but often collaborates with her colleague Courtney who is actively accepting new child and adult patients here
My full professional title is Domenique Edwards, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), PMHNP-BC (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified) and I am the proud owner of Edwards Psychiatry.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree Summa Cum Laude in Psychology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I also earned my Master of Science in Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University (School of Nursing) which as of January 1, 2024 remains the #2 Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program nationally according to U.S. News and World Report https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-nursing-schools/nurse-practitioner-mental-health-rankings
I believe all people deserve high-quality and welcoming mental health care. I approach psychiatry as an art and science— that is, the art of human connection and the science of the brain and body. While a large role of mine is to diagnose and manage medications, I also understand that a person is far more than their diagnosis and that medication (if indicated) is only one piece of wellness. Other holistic aspects of wellness I recommend for all of my patients include: psychotherapy as needed, sleep hygiene, PCP visits as needed, healthy diet, and regular physical activity.
Similar to a psychiatrist, I have extensive experience both diagnosing and treating mental health conditions in children, adolescents, and adults. I have also independently treated diverse patient populations among community health, university, and private practice settings.
I have experience across a range of psychiatric conditions including: (but not limited to) Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety, Trichotillomania, MDD/Depression, PTSD/Trauma, Psychosis, Insomnia, ADHD, Bipolar I/II, Borderline Personality Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Alcohol Use Disorder, and Schizophrenia.
Since I am fully licensed in Washington State, I can practice independently and very similarly to a psychiatrist. I keep my Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) licenses active, which can be verified by visiting https://www.doh.wa.gov/ I have also completed an appropriate Washington State provider telemedicine training.
Nationally, I have satisfied all American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) requirements to be board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I also have both a Type I (individual) National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Type II (organization) NPI which can be verified by visiting https://npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov/ I am also actively licensed to prescribe scheduled/controlled substances by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
